Muhammad Izam Buhan

Creative Operations & Brand Production Manager — Kuala Lumpur
17+ years leading design teams, now focused on the systems behind the work. I lead the studio operations team for QS's global creative studio, working closely with the Creative Associate Director to coordinate creative production across APAC, EMEA and Latin America. Together, we build production systems that empower our designers and ensure brand consistency at scale. I also hold an MBA with a major in Artificial Intelligence (CGPA 3.83), which deepens my approach to building intelligent, scalable creative workflows.

// THE PERSON BEHIND THE PROFILE

Hi, I'm Izam. I've spent the last 17 years building and running creative studios — from launching ZALORA's creative function in Southeast Asia to scaling QS's global brand and event production.

My superpower? Taking the chaos out of creative work so the team can focus on what they do best. I build systems that let our designers design, help our producers ship faster, and ensure brands stay consistent across three continents. My goal isn't to be the hero — it's to build a team that delivers great work, sustainably, at scale.

Outside the studio, I stay busy exploring how AI and automation are reshaping creative work, running and hunting down new food to try — then attempting to recreate it for my kids at home. I'm also the friend who always has the perfect GIF for the moment.

How the studio runs
BRIEF → SYSTEM → LAUNCH → SCALE

Our process is built on clear steps, but it only works because of the people who execute them. My role is to make sure the team has the clarity, tools, and trust they need to do their best work. Here's how we do it, step by step.

01
Brief
We start by translating stakeholder briefs into clear, actionable creative direction. I facilitate workshops and discussions to ensure every team member understands the "why" behind the work, so we're all aligned before we begin.
02
System
We build and refine the systems — like atomic design and AI-assisted templates — that allow our production to scale. I work with the team to identify pain points and bottlenecks, then we build solutions that eliminate repetitive tasks and free up time for creative thinking.
03
Launch
We coordinate execution across distributed teams using ClickUp and Agile workflows. My focus is on removing blockers, ensuring everyone has what they need and keeping communication clear so we can ship work on time, together.
04
Scale
We measure our results, gather feedback, and reflect on what worked. But scaling isn't just about output — it's about team growth. I make sure we document our wins and lessons, so the team gets smarter and stronger with every cycle.

Throughout this process, I work to ensure the team has clear ownership, the resources they need and visible recognition for their contributions.
